More residence than hotel

Freyja opened its doors in 2015 — a small, family-run operation that has welcomed thousands of guests from every corner of the world.

We are not a hotel, and we are not a typical rental. We are something quieter. Each of our four suites is a self-sufficient home with its own kitchen, generous living spaces, and the kind of quiet privacy that a hotel corridor can never offer.

Every suite is different. Every guest is met by name. And every detail, from the linens to the local recommendations, is handled the way we would want it handled ourselves.

The collection

Distinct homes, each its own

Each apartment is a self-sufficient home with its own character. Choose the one that fits your travel — from a quiet retreat for two to a full residence for groups of eight.

For 2 guests · Top-floor loft

Loft Suite

A bright top-floor loft beneath sloping ceilings and skylights, on a quiet residential street steps from Hallgrímskirkja. A queen bed, private sitting area and kitchenette of your own — for couples who want stillness, light, and a corner of the city to themselves.

For 4 guests · Private garden

Garden Suite

A queen bed and a pair of twins, opening onto a walled garden of your own — a rare thing in central Reykjavík. For families, friends, and anyone who wants a quiet corner outdoors at the end of the day.

For 8 guests · 3 queens + 2 singles

Superior Suite

A classic residence with three queen rooms and two singles — sleeping eight across a full kitchen, sitting room and dining table that gathers everyone in one place. For families and friends travelling together, with room enough to feel at home.

Practical details

Before you arrive

What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is by 11:00. We can usually accommodate earlier arrivals or later departures when our schedule allows — just ask.
How does check-in work?
Each suite has its own private entrance and smart lock. We send you a personal access code by email the day before arrival, so you can let yourself in any time of day or night. A guest-support line is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year, if you need us.
Are the suites self-catering?
Yes. The Garden Suite, Superior Suite and Balcony Suite each have a fully equipped private kitchen with oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge and the essentials for cooking. The Loft Suite has a private kitchenette designed for lighter meals and morning coffee. Every suite has its own private bathroom.
Where can I have breakfast?
Breakfast is not included, but Reykjavik Roasters — one of the city's most-loved coffee houses — sits two doors down on Kárastígur. Many of our guests start the day there with a flat white and a fresh pastry.
Do you offer parking?
Street parking on Freyjugata is free between 18:00 and 09:00 and all day on weekends. Paid public parking is available throughout the day in the surrounding zones. We can advise on the closest spots when you arrive.
Are the suites family-friendly?
Yes. The Garden Suite, Superior Suite and Balcony Suite are all well suited to families with children. Cribs and high chairs are available on request at no charge.
What about late arrivals and airport transfers?
Late arrivals are no problem — your smart-lock code works around the clock. Airport transfers from Keflavík can be arranged through our partners for a flat fee; let us know your flight details and we'll set it up.
